Factions And Groups
This section describes in brief the major factions and political groups influencing the area.
- The First Legion
An elite corps of regimented warriors, primarily fighters and paladins. They were formed from the remnants of the free-human battalion lead by the first King: Osric The Champion.
- The Secret College
A sanctuary and place of learning for all arcane magic users, but in particular human magic users. The college goals are uncertain besides that they seek arcane knowledge and power. They provide safe-haven for human mages who are often hunted down by the Quin-ta-mirin, killed by their owners (if they are born a slave), or simply left at the mercy of their own abilities.
- The Seekers of The Lost Gods
A human organization interested in the lost religious lore of mankind. They often seek the aid of adventurers in discovering new information about mankind’s shadowed past.
- Shadow Hunters
This primarily Dragonborn organization is concerned with cleaning up the pockets of undead left behind by the Deathtide. They are one of the few groups who have intimate knowledge of the dark realm of The Shadowfell and its denizens.
The Quin-ta-mirin, an elvish organization, believe magic is a danger and will do anything to suppress its misuse. In particular they have a strong belief that magic in the hands of humans is unconscionable.
- The Alliance Of Free Men
Many don’t trust the current king of The Kingdom of Man, King Lydus. He’s considered a weakling and too young to inherit the throne. The recent calamity in the eastern province has only strengthened the dissent. A group of these dissenters calling themselves The Alliance Of Free Men has started to grow in power. They oppose the current rulership and it’s lack of action against the dwarvish and elvish nations.
- The Order of The Black Hand
A shadowy guild of assassins and spies who sell themselves out to the highest bidder.
- The Consortium
A conglomerate of bankers and merchants who collectively control most of the trade in the kingdom. They organize caravans, blaze new trade routes and manipulate local and kingdom wide politics to their advantage.
